In an excellent mound performance, Ichiyo Takahashi of the Manati Athenians whitewashed the Gateway Grizzlies 14-0 on a 3-hitter.
He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."
The Gateway manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Takahashi did a good job keeping us guessing."
In all, the Manati hurler rang up 7 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout win.
This year Takahashi has a 4-6 record with a 3.48 ERA.

Today Athenians pitcher Fraser Kimpton sparkled in a 4-hit shutout against the Gateway Grizzlies at Athenians Ballpark. He fanned 1 and walked 0 to help Manati post the 7-0 win.
In 10 starts this season, Kimpton has picked up 5 wins while suffering 3 losses. He has pitched 79.2 innings, allowed 75 hits, struck out 21 and posted a 2.71 ERA.

July was a magical month for Esteban Fernández of Manati. He held the Western League hitters spellbound, conjuring up a 6-1 mark and a 1.16 ERA.
