His teammates, fans, peers and even the SION sportswriters all agreed that Lindsay Papworth was worthy of the Western League Player of the Week Award.
During the week the Normandy third baseman compiled a .550 batting average (11-20) with 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.

 | Wednesday, September 5th, 2012: Normandy Dazed, Ortíz Gets No-Hitter
In a seldom seen sight, Bartolo Ortíz threw a no-hitter as the Dayton Sluggers blanked the Normandy Medallions 5-0. In a dominating performance at Sluggers Ballpark he struck out 3 and walked 2 while facing only 29 batters.
"He had a great curveball out there," the Sluggers manager told SION reporters. "Bartolo was a real gamer, a real competitor. He didn't give in to anybody out there."
So far in 2012 Ortíz has compiled a 8-3 record with a 2.22 ERA.

 | Saturday, September 1st, 2012: Hepple Twirls Medallions to Shutout Victory
"He was kind of teasing them with his offspeed stuff and his fastball was moving everywhere," the Normandy skipper said in postgame comments after Brian Hepple had shut out the Hermosillo Naranjeros 7-0 on a 5-hit masterpiece.
Hepple numbered 5 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in a gem of a performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well . . . or he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," complained the Hermosillo manager after the defeat.
This season Hepple has gone 4-0 with an ERA of 1.85, posting 12 strikeouts in 39 innings.
