| Breaking News | | Wednesday, August 7th, 2013: Williams Slaps 5 Hits It was a hits blitz for Walter Williams at Canners Ballpark. The Monterey Canners catcher tore into Hermosillo for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace Canners to a 7-5 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Naranjeros bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Williams, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
W. Williams singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off C. Smith in the 10th.
In 29 games Williams is hitting .305 this season for the Canners with 32 hits, 1 home run, 11 RBIs, 4 walks, .333 OBP and has scored 13 runs . | | Wednesday, July 31st, 2013: 5-Hits Blitz by Lauderhill's Bégin! It was a sensational day at the plate for Maurice Bégin as he led the charge to a 15-1 win over the Canners.
The Lauderhill third baseman was pure misery for the Monterey pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Canners told SION reporters after the game, "Bégin put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
M. Bégin singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
So far this year Bégin is batting .277 with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored. | | Tuesday, July 30th, 2013: Mililani Hurls Lauderhill to Shutout Win Lauderhill was pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard today as Ilisoni Mililani blanked Monterey 3-0.
