He tossed a complete-game shutout to spark the Monterrey Sultanes to a 1-0 win. In today's contest at Ballpark of Monterrey, Díaz limited Cook Island to 1 hit and had 2 strikeouts and no walks.
In 2014 Díaz has a 4-6 record with a 2.90 ERA in 10 starts. |  | Tuesday, July 15th, 2014: 25-Game Hitting Streak for Rosende Monterrey could care less about Dirceu Rosende's hitting streak. All they care about is who won the game. The Sultanes manager told BNN, "Not to belittle his streak, but at the end of the day, the important thing is winning the game, not stopping a hitting streak."
Well, the Sultanes didn't stop Dirceu Rosende today, but they won the game 7-1 over the Sandstorms. The Phoenix first baseman was 2-for-4 in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 25 games. D. Rosende hit a two-run home run off S. Díaz in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
This season Rosende is batting .404 with 5 home runs. |  | Sunday, July 13th, 2014: Apodaca Tosses Shutout Against Auckland Lorenzo Apodaca of the Monterrey Sultanes shut down the Auckland Seawolves 3-0 on a 4-hitter, holding them scoreless while ringing up 3 strikeouts and allowing no walks.
After the game Apodaca said, "Guys have been fouling off a lot of pitches lately and I've been getting into too many deep pitch counts, but I'm pleased with the way things went today. I went right after them and stayed ahead in the count."
