Jacques Maître penned his name in the record books after an explosive home run spree against Oxnard. He's now among the select sluggers who have hit three home runs in a game.
In his record-setting day at Spiders Ballpark the Springfield catcher went 3-4 with 5 RBIs and scored 4 times in the 10-4 victory over the Beet Farmers.
"It was just one of those days," he told the SION sportswriters in the postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
"Maître was locked in," the Oxnard skipper said. "We made some pretty good pitches. Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's pretty hot right now. He's pretty locked in. You've just got to tip your hat."
J. Maître grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off C. López in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off C. López in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.
This season in 36 games Maître is batting .286 with 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and has scored 11 times.

Dennis Spivey has been in a real groove lately. The 21-year-old Oxnard Beet Farmers first baseman nabbed Western League Player of the Week honors today after beating up on opposing pitchers all last week.
Spivey's hot streak featured 15 hits in 33 at-bats, 1 home run, 7 RBIs, 9 runs scored and a .455 average.
Spivey currently has a .321 batting average with 54 hits, 3 homers, 21 RBIs, 30 runs scored and a .372 OBP.

5 hits in 6 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Dennis Spivey of the Oxnard Beet Farmers had a sensational 5-6 game against Carson City at Beet Farmers Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 16-4 shellacking of the Carpetbaggers.
In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off...Right, skipper?"
D. Spivey grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run triple in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 9th.
This year Spivey is hitting .344, produced 21 RBIs and 3 home runs, scored 29 times and gotten on base at a .396 rate.
