| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012: Utica's Wilson Takes 2012 Outstanding Hitter Award
The top batter in the Eastern League in 2012 was Utica first baseman Woodrow Wilson. For his standout play, he was voted the Outstanding Hitter Award.
Wilson starred this season with a .383 batting average, 87 hits, 6 home runs, 45 RBIs, .419 OBP and 40 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.

 | Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012: Fire Ramos, Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner
The #1 pitcher in the Eastern League this season was Juan Ramos of the Utica Fire. He won the Outstanding Pitcher Award for 2012 by topping the league with a fine 9-0 won-lost record.
In an exceptional performance Ramos started 10 times, worked 84.1 innings, yielded 66 hits, fanned 44 and compiled a 1.28 ERA. Opposing clubs hit .216 against him.
The SBWA will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.

| Wednesday, August 1st, 2012: EL's Best Batter Selected
Woodrow Wilson, the Utica Fire first baseman, certainly made his name known to Eastern League hurlers over the last month. He consistently introduced himself with hit after hit and came away with July's Eastern League Batter of the Month award.
He slashed and bashed his way to a .386 batting average while tallying up 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He also worked EL pitchers for 6 walks and a .419 on-base percentage.
