"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Cal Sprague told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."
It definitely turned out well for the Cork first baseman today as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats against Hilo. But not so good for his team, as the Stars took the game at Saints Ballpark, whipping the Saints 7-4.
C. Sprague singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off E. Mullenax in the 9th.
This season Sprague has 1 home run and a .328 batting average.

Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Damage Stadium when Wambua Burhani of Hilo scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Bowling Green Spelunkers.
He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Stars get by the Spelunkers 7-1.
In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the second baseman of the Stars exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens...good things happen...like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."
W. Burhani singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Burhani has batted at a .386 pace with 27 hits, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and scored 12 times.

Hilo was pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard today as Yo Suzuki blanked Mantaza 3-0. He stopped them on 6 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
His skipper said, "Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite. He was on top of his game in this one."
