Wednesday, July 30th, 2014: Medrano Dominates Cannibals in Shutout The Ocean Park Valiants got a great effort from Juan Medrano as the 22-year-old hurler tossed a complete-game 3-0 shutout over the Donner Lake Cannibals. He struck out 3 while allowing 4 hits and walking 2. Up to now Medrano has recorded a record of 5-2. In 11 starts he has fanned 13 batters in 77.2 innings with a 2.78 ERA. Wednesday, July 16th, 2014: Salas Bangs out 5 Base Hits It was a good day for the Moose at Normandy Fields as they clipped the Donner Lake Cannibals 9-7. It was tremendous day for Félix Salas, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 6 barrage. The Ottawa third baseman told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well." F. Salas singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 9th, walked in the 11th, struck out in the 13th and hit a three-run home run off R. García in the 14th.
