Francisco Chávez really did a number on the Rieleros in the Melrose Park 6-5 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Francisco Chávez did just that today for the Generals and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 23-year-old catcher said after his record-setting performance.
F. Chávez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Batting .326 to date, Chávez has 5 home runs and 24 RBIs.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus. He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
And that's what Valentín Cintrón did as he led the Raiders to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Rieleros.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," the Aguascalientes manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
Cintrón yielded 5 hits and had 8 strikeouts and no walks in a standout performance.
So far this season Cintrón has compiled a 5-0 record with a 2.20 ERA.

In a very impressive mound performance, Dariusz Chojecki stopped the Aguascalientes Rieleros cold. The 27-year-old Spelunkers hurler blanked them on 6 hits to post a 6-0 triumph.
So far this season Chojecki has worked 51 innings in 8 relief appearances with 1 saves. He has dished out 18 strikeouts and walked 12 with a 3-1 mark and a 1.24 ERA.
