| Breaking News | | Thursday, July 3rd, 2014: Lawrence Slaps 5 Hits Ed Lawrence really did a number on the Frenzy in the Hong Kong 13-0 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 6 at-bats. But Ed Lawrence did just that today for the Phooies and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 19-year-old shortstop said after his record-setting performance.
E. Lawrence doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off F. Gutiérrez in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
Hitting .394 to date, Lawrence has 1 home run and 6 RBIs. He has played in 17 games. | | Sunday, June 8th, 2014: Jaja Fashions Shutout Against Darwin It was a great game for Makabee Jaja of the Rouen Raiders. The 23-year-old hurler blanked the Darwin Frenzy 7-0, stopping them on 3 hits.
| | Thursday, June 5th, 2014: Okada Batters Darwin Big Time It was a big day with the bat for Shoichi Okada of the Miami Sharks at Miami Grounds as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Darwin 28-4.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today. 5 hits in 6 tries. But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Okada had collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Sharks had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
S. Okada singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, was hit by a pitch in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 8th.
Batting .412 to date, Okada has 1 home run and 4 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 19-35, .352 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 21.0 GB | | Record at home | 6-21, .222 PCT | | Record on the road | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-4, .200 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 5-11, .313 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 4-14, .222 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 15-20, .429 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in June | 8-19, .296 PCT | | Record in July | 11-16, .407 PCT |
