It was a smooth and solid performance by Tom Donovan of the Rouen Raiders against Ottawa today. He crafted a fine 4-hitter in blanking them 1-0 and chalked up 8 strikeouts and no walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Rouen skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."
This year in 6 starts, Donovan has recorded 4 wins and absorbed 1 loss. He has pitched 48 innings, allowed 34 hits, struck out 28 and has a 0.94 ERA.

What's in a number? In baseball, just about everything.
The numbers that Rouen's Leroy Lynch stacked up last week were the envy of the league, as Lynch came away with Eastern League Player of the Week honors.
He belted out 14 hits in 26 at-bats, no home runs and 3 RBIs last week as he posted his .538 batting average.
Lynch is hitting .465 in 2013 with 11 RBIs and 1 home run.

Carl Houston of the Hong Kong Phooies was in command from start to finish in his 1-0 shutout win over the Rouen Raiders. He struck out 5, walked 0 and allowed 2 hits.
"I felt strong the entire game," Houston said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."
This year Houston has worked 39.2 innings with 25 strikeouts en route to a 4-0 record and a 2.50 ERA.
