"Believe it or not," said Rochester right fielder Jorge Borges, "they threw me some good pitches today."
That would be hard to believe for anyone who saw him dispose of the Cane Fires with a great 5-hit performance.
"He made it look easy," said the West Ohahu manager, who saw his team fall to the Rochester Loons, 18-6.
"Hats off to him!"
Borges is currently hitting at a .408 pace with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs. |
 | Monday, June 24th, 2013: Murakami Sizzles! Smokes Macaws for 5 Hits!
Sadaharu Murakami told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Murakami of the West Ohahu Cane Fires did against the San Jose Macaws. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Macaws, who suffered a 9-2 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
S. Murakami hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off A. Cuarenta in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 8th.
Murakami is currently hitting at a .302 pace with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and has scored 13 times.

 | Saturday, June 22nd, 2013: Hits Galore! Sauvage Drills 5 Hits!
It was a good day all around. West Ohahu whipped Travelers Rest 10-7 and Frédéric Sauvage displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Cane Fires Ballpark.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told SION reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Frédéric is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa."
The 21-year-old right fielder for the Cane Fires collected 5 hits in 7 at-bats to get his name in the record book.
F. Sauvage doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, grounded out in the 9th and hit a three-run home run off F. Souza in the 12th.
Sauvage is hitting .300 this year with 1 home run, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 24 hits in 80 at-bats, 3 walks and a .333 on-base percentage. Sauvage has played in 18 games.
