| Breaking News |  | Monday, July 28th, 2014: WL's Top Player, Yi of Travelers Rest
No single hit brought Kwan-cheol Yi Player of the Week honors -- the Travelers Rest Stickfigures first baseman corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat.
"Hitting is all about discipline," said Yi. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes."
Concentrate he did. Yi stroked 12 hits in 26 at-bats while cranking out 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
This season Yi is batting .298 with 29 RBIs, 23 runs scored and 5 home runs.

 | Sunday, July 6th, 2014: Dragons Galván Fires No-Hitter
The crowd sensed something special today at Dragons Stadium. They seemed to get a little louder with passing of each out and each inning. It was obvious on the scoreboard that the pitcher had a no-hitter.
"It was like the playoffs or the Round 3," Alfredo Galván told the press after the game."
It ended up a very special day for Galván of the Taipei Dragons -- he held the Travelers Rest Stickfigures hitless and beat them 8-0, totaling 6 strikeouts with 3 walks and faced only 30 batters.
"Today was my day and I got lucky. I've had a couple of other shots that I've lost in the seventh inning and today I got through that and made it."
Lucky? Maybe so. But it usually takes more than luck to hold a team hitless.
In 2014 Galván has compiled a 10-7 record with a 3.12 ERA in 19 starts.

 | Monday, June 30th, 2014: Travelers Rest Center Fielder Nets WL Award
It was an exceptional week for Vicente González of the Travelers Rest Stickfigures.
First he beat the devil out of the ball, hitting .636 and as you would expect, he was voted the Player of the Week in the Western League. Last week González went 14-22, notched no home runs and 1 RBIs and scored 5 runs. All in all, a very good week for him.
So far this season González is hitting .280 with 2 home runs, 22 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 83 hits in 296 at-bats and a .323 OBP.
