The Chattanooga Smokies met their match today in Taipei hurler Tom Miller. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 5-hit shutout.
"He just worked us over," the Chattanooga skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."
In the 5-0 victory Miller whiffed 2 and gave up no walks.
So far this season, Miller has logged a 13-6 record with a 3.21 ERA. He has started 22 games, hurled 148.2 innings and registered 61 strikeouts and 34 walks.

 | Sunday, July 20th, 2014: Hula Dominates Chattanooga
Petaluma hurler Mahutia Hula was at his best as he whitewashed the Chattanooga Smokies 4-0 today.
"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Chattanooga manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."
Hula fired a 3-hitter and totaled 6 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout performance.
In 2014 Hula has compiled a 13-4 record with a 2.64 ERA in 20 starts.

 | Monday, July 14th, 2014: Western League Names #1 Player
22-year-old Anastasio Trujillo made a few Chattanooga headlines during this past week as the rookie second baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Western League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 13 hits in 21 at-bats to put up a .619 average. Trujillo collected no home runs, 2 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
This season Trujillo is swinging the bat at a .334 pace. He has hit 1 home run and scored 33 times, while driving in 24. His on-base percentage is .375 and he has played in 88 games.
