In an excellent mound performance, José Silva of the West Ohahu Cane Fires whitewashed the Holbrook Sailors 8-0 on a 5-hitter.
He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."
The Holbrook manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Silva did a good job keeping us guessing."
In all, the West Ohahu hurler rang up 3 strikeouts and 2 walks in the shutout win.
In 7 starts this season Silva has chalked up a 4-0 record and a 1.73 ERA.

 | Monday, May 6th, 2013: Cuesta on Fire, 6-6 Against Delaware
It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Jorge Cuesta -- a 6-hit day. He went on a rampage at Ballpark of Holbrook and paced the Sailors to a 7-5 win over the Delaware Smash.
After his dynamite batting performance the Holbrook right fielder told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 6 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
J. Cuesta singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In 2013 Cuesta is batting .450 with 1 home run.

Holbrook hurler Ángelo Ávila was at his best as he whitewashed the Davao Water Buffalos 14-0 today.
"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Davao manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."
Ávila fired a 5-hitter and totaled 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in the shutout performance.
