| Breaking News | | Thursday, August 1st, 2013: García Zeroes in on Boston A masterful pitching performance carried the Taipei Dragons to a 11-0 victory over Boston. Luis García held them scoreless in a complete game effort. He permitted 4 hits, had 2 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk.
The skipper of the Slammers said, "García was sharp. We never did figure him out."
Checking out his stats for the year, García has racked up 14 wins and 4 losses in 24 starts, 3.09 ERA and struck out 29 batters in 175 innings. | | Tuesday, July 9th, 2013: Palmer Dominates Slammers in Shutout "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Atheists manager told reporters after today's game.
The Slammers ran into a buzzsaw as Blake Palmer cut them down to size 4-0 with a 4-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Petaluma hurler doled out no walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Blake goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Palmer also got some praise from the Boston manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
Up to now Palmer has recorded a record of 13-3. In 19 starts he has fanned 116 batters in 138.2 innings with a 3.31 ERA. | | Monday, June 17th, 2013: Evans Slams 5 Hits for Boston Bernie Evans told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Evans of the Boston Slammers did against the West Ohahu Cane Fires. He went to the plate 6 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Cane Fires, who suffered a 15-4 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
B. Evans singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
In 70 games this year Evans has posted a .293 average and put up these numbers: 1 home run, 32 RBIs and 45 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 57-63, .475 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 13.0 GB | | Record at home | 28-32, .467 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-31, .483 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-5, .667 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 24-16, .600 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-15, .400 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 47-48, .495 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 16-12, .571 PCT | | Record in May | 13-16, .448 PCT | | Record in June | 12-13, .480 PCT | | Record in July | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in August | 4-5, .444 PCT |
