| Breaking News | | Thursday, June 20th, 2013: Khrushchev Johnson Blanks Glendale Harry Johnson was downright nasty in pitching a 8-0 shutout against Glendale. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Gladiators were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Khrushchev hurler chalked up 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
Johnson has gone 12-4 this season with an ERA of 2.52 and 56 strikeouts in 128.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .247 against him. | | Wednesday, May 29th, 2013: Taipei Blanks Kiev Charles Arnold of the Taipei Dragons was on fire against Kiev. He shut them down 2-0 on 3 hits and no runs with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Arnold said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
Year-to-date Arnold shows a 3-5 record, 10 starts, 65.2 innings, 24 strikeouts and a 4.25 ERA. | | Friday, May 10th, 2013: Khrushchev Su Blanks Stickfigures In a sharp 2-hit performance, Cho-yeong Su tossed the Kiev Khrushchev to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Travelers Rest Stickfigures, fanning 9 and walking 3.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Travelers Rest manager said in his postgame interview.
This year Su has compiled a 4-3 record with a 3.40 ERA in 8 starts. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 58-43, .574 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 28-20, .583 PCT | | Record on the road | 30-23, .566 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 10-10, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-5, .667 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-38, .558 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 18-10, .643 PCT | | Record in May | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in June | 18-7, .720 PCT | | Record in July | 10-9, .526 PCT |
