Harry Johnson was downright nasty in pitching a 8-0 shutout against Glendale. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Gladiators were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Khrushchev hurler chalked up 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
Johnson has gone 12-4 this season with an ERA of 2.52 and 56 strikeouts in 128.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .247 against him.

Charles Arnold of the Taipei Dragons was on fire against Kiev. He shut them down 2-0 on 3 hits and no runs with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Arnold said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
Year-to-date Arnold shows a 3-5 record, 10 starts, 65.2 innings, 24 strikeouts and a 4.25 ERA.

 | Friday, May 10th, 2013: Khrushchev Su Blanks Stickfigures
In a sharp 2-hit performance, Cho-yeong Su tossed the Kiev Khrushchev to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Travelers Rest Stickfigures, fanning 9 and walking 3.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Travelers Rest manager said in his postgame interview.
This year Su has compiled a 4-3 record with a 3.40 ERA in 8 starts.
