Today the Chiefs downed the Hooligans 13-5 as Raphaël Lamy sprayed hits all over Chiefs Ballpark in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
The Langley left fielder said to SION reporters in the postgame interview, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of very pretty pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."
R. Lamy singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit an RBI double in the 7th.
Thus far in 2013 Lamy is batting .334 with 1 home run, 30 RBIs and 48 runs scored. |

Júlio Carrión bent a little, but he didn't break against the Smokies. The Langley pitcher hurled a 2-hit 9-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and putting up 5 strikeouts.
"Júlio is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
To date in 2013, Carrión has registered 16 starts, 8-3 won-lost mark, 2.53 ERA, 121 IP, 109 strikeouts and 24 walks. Opposing teams have hit .246 against him.

When Luis Valenzuela takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game, at least that's the way it was in May. The outcome was usually a Langley victory. His fine 5-1 performance copped him the Western League Pitcher of the Month trophy.
The talented Chiefs hurler made 6 starts, worked 47.2 innings, permitted 29 base hits and struck out 39, while putting up a 0.94 ERA.
In 2013 Valenzuela has compiled a 7-3 record with a 1.95 ERA.
