"He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said the Reno manager after watching Chris Dowd of the Madagascar Dragons humiliate his club 4-0 in a fine 4-hit shutout.
"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Dowd said after he befuddled the Big Littles. "I was making good pitches the entire game."
He whiffed 4 and walked 1 in the complete game effort.
So far this year Dowd has a 6-17 record with a 5.54 ERA.

In a very sharp performance at Saskatoon Grounds Darryl Clark of the Saskatoon Pioneers blanked the Madagascar Dragons 2-0. He permitted 3 hits, struck out 2 strikeouts and had 1 walk in the Pioneers victory.
Season-to-date Clark has rung up 5 wins and 4 losses in 10 appearances. He has an ERA of 2.40 and has fanned 39 batters in 71.1 innings.

 | Saturday, June 28th, 2014: Ontiveros Raps Madagascar for 5 Hits
5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Knoxville's Jorge Ontiveros had a very special day against the Dragons when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Knoxville Tornados to a 9-5 win at Knoxville Fields.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Ontiveros said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
J. Ontiveros singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 7th.
Ontiveros is hitting .311 this season with 5 home runs, 47 RBIs and 44 runs scored. He has 96 hits in 309 at-bats.
