The Andean right fielder stepped into the batter's box 7 times against the Santa Monica and delivered 5 hits.
It was a sensational game for him. He excitedly told the press, "Unbelieveable feeling. Unbelieveable. It felt good. It felt great. What a day! 5 for 7! It does wonders for your batting average, too."
J. López tripled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th and singled in the 12th.
This year López has collected a .305 batting average to date with 58 hits in 190 at-bats, 19 RBIs, 3 home runs and scored 23 times. "I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."
It was anything but comfortable for Madagascar.
"Long used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in hitter's counts."
The Santa Monica Superstars hurler fanned 2 and walked 1.

He has an ERA of 3.81 and has fanned 28 batters in 80.1 innings. |  | Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013: Márquez Belts Bunch of Base Hits Lorenzo Márquez had an answer for everything Santa Monica threw him today at Devils Ballpark. In 5 at-bats he made good contact and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit.
The Tasmanian right fielder went 5 for 5 in the game to get his name in the record book. However, his great performance was not enough to produce a victory. His club, the Devils, took it on the chin 13-7 against the Superstars.
"I know you can't win 'em all," he said, "but it sure would have been nice to win this one. To get 5 hits and lose is just not the way it should be."
L. Márquez singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off T. Gonzáles in the 9th.
