Monday, August 4th, 2014: EL Player of the Week Awarded
It was an exceptional week for Masaharu Gato of the Hong Kong Tycoons.

First he beat the devil out of the ball, hitting .483 and as you would expect, he was voted the Player of the Week in the Eastern League. Last week Gato went 14-29, notched no home runs and 4 RBIs and scored 7 runs. All in all, a very good week for him.

This year Gato has socked 128 hits in 404 at-bats for a .317 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .353 pace and his totals also include 39 RBIs and 49 runs scored.

Friday, August 1st, 2014: Kisza Pitches Killarney to Shutout Win
The Killarney Kingsmen posted a 4-0 shutout over Hong Kong today on the strength of a strong performance by Otto Kisza. The Kingsmen pitcher held the Tycoons to 6 hits while walking 1 and fanning 7 in the route-going win.

Thus far this season Kisza has posted a 4-13 record, started 24 games, struck out 44 batters in 140.1 innings and compiled a 5.00 ERA.

Monday, July 28th, 2014: EL Star of the Week Named
Today the Eastern League announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Hong Kong right fielder Sergio Martínez. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers.

For the week he batted .500 (11-22) with 1 home run and 9 RBIs.

Currently Martínez has 8 home runs and a .289 batting average.
