| Breaking News | | Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013: 5-Hit Barrage by González 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Brawlers 6-4 win over Dover, Félix González was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Field of the Brawlers.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day González delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
F. González singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off K. Ishida in the 8th.
A look at his season totals shows González with 14 home runs, .318 BA, .364 OBP, 54 RBIs and 52 runs scored. | | Saturday, June 22nd, 2013: Cerda Befuddles Dover Miguel Cerda was downright nasty in pitching a 4-0 shutout against Dover. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Dynamo were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 4-hit shutout the The Sundance Kids hurler chalked up 3 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
In 17 starts this season Cerda has notched a 11-4 record and a 3.59 ERA. | | Thursday, April 18th, 2013: Great Day for Starr! 5 Hits! The Dynamo whipped the Sharks 12-6 at Dover Grounds and Christian Starr had a big hand in the win. The Dynamo third baseman came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Starr and a tough day for Honolulu.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Starr delivered today -- 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
C. Starr singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off F. Solís in the 8th.
This year Starr is hitting .440, produced 15 RBIs and 2 home runs, scored 11 times and gotten on base at a .453 rate. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Ismael Cuesta | torn tricep muscle | 5 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 59-61, .492 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 11.0 GB | | Record at home | 29-31, .483 PCT | | Record on the road | 30-30, .500 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 9-5, .643 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-23, .465 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 42-49, .462 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in May | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in June | 13-12, .520 PCT | | Record in July | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in August | 5-4, .556 PCT |
