In a splendid 4-0 shutout performance, Steve Talbot of the Atlantic City Gamblers subdued the Tennessee Smokies on a 3-hitter.
His manager said in postgame comments, "He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes."
Talbot registered 4 strikeouts and no walks.
His record this season is 12-6 in 26 starts and Talbot has a 3.15 ERA.

Bob Smith's hit streak ended at 23 games today as the Gamblers first baseman went 0-for-4 in a 3-2 loss to the Rastamen.
"It's one of those things," Smith said. "It just didn't happen. I guess it was my day not to get a hit."
Smith is batting .302 this season in 80 games with 7 home runs, 43 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 62 hits in 205 at-bats.

| Friday, July 4th, 2014: Smith Has 20-Game Hitting Streak
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Bob Smith did it again. He bashed 1 hit in today's game and for the last 20 games in a row has collected at least one hit. The 23-year-old Atlantic City first baseman extended his streak as the Gamblers beat the Seoul Thunderlizards 4-2 at Field of the Gamblers.
B. Smith struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th and grounded out in the 8th.
This year Smith is batting .305 with 7 home runs.
