| Breaking News | | Saturday, July 26th, 2014: Season Possibly Over for Héctor Muñóz The Derry Pints will have to make do without Héctor Muñóz for 7-8 months. He suffered a ruptured disc while colliding with a player at a base in the game today against the Madison Wolves. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the second baseman. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Muñóz will miss 7-8 months.
So far this season, Muñóz has recorded a .279 batting average with 107 hits, 1 home run, 46 RBIs, 41 runs scored and a .349 OBP. | | Wednesday, May 21st, 2014: Crabtree Fashions Shutout Against Tennessee "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Pints manager told reporters after today's game.
The Smokies ran into a buzzsaw as Chris Crabtree cut them down to size 6-0 with a 5-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Derry hurler doled out 2 walks and registered 3 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Chris goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Crabtree also got some praise from the Tennessee manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
Up to now Crabtree has recorded a record of 4-5. In 11 starts he has fanned 42 batters in 76 innings with a 2.84 ERA. | | Thursday, August 1st, 2013: Hanna on Fire, 5-5 Against Derry During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Vic Hanna went 5 for 5 against the Derry Pints at Anchorage Grounds and the Frigates picked up a 9-8 victory.
He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted right fielder was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Anchorage skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Hanna has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
V. Hanna singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off J. Cabrera in the 11th.
His current batting average stands at .268 and he has chalked up 5 home runs and 19 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 55-65, .458 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 17.0 GB | | Record at home | 29-31, .483 PCT | | Record on the road | 26-34, .433 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-4, .714 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-23, .452 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 8-13, .381 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 47-52, .475 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 10-18, .357 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in July | 13-16, .448 PCT | | Record in August | 2-7, .222 PCT |
