| Breaking News |  | Monday, July 28th, 2014: Star of the Week Awarded in WL
20-year-old Manuel Santiago made a few Kingston headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Western League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 10 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .417 average. Santiago collected 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
In his season totals Santiago has 13 home runs and a .302 batting average.

 | Saturday, July 19th, 2014: Ibáñez Hurls Masterpiece
"Sometimes I was smart... and sometimes just a little lucky." That's how Jesús Ibáñez of the Kingston Rastamen described his shutout victory over the Robert Redford Presents The Sundance Kids. Ibáñez blanked them 13-0 on 2 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1.
Ibáñez has a 13-6 season record so far. In 24 starts, he has fanned 85 batters in 164.1 innings with a 3.83 ERA.

 | Tuesday, July 8th, 2014: Smith Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Kingston
Bob Smith's hit streak ended at 23 games today as the Gamblers first baseman went 0-for-4 in a 3-2 loss to the Rastamen.
"It's one of those things," Smith said. "It just didn't happen. I guess it was my day not to get a hit."
Smith is batting .302 this season in 80 games with 7 home runs, 43 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 62 hits in 205 at-bats.
