| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 5th, 2013: Red-Hot Ruíz EL Player of the Week
The Player of the Week has been chosen by the Eastern League. The award went to Nelson Ruíz, catcher of the Hawaii Typhoon.
In a sensational hitting performance, he wrecked league pitchers with a .533 average to win the honor. Ruíz went 16-30 for the week, totaled 1 home run and 5 RBIs and scored 6 times.
So far this season Ruíz has hit .269 with 2 home runs, 28 RBIs and and scored 40 times. |
 | Wednesday, July 31st, 2013: García Career Ended by Injury
The Hawaii Typhoon were jolted by some terrible news -- Ricardo García's baseball career was pronounced over -- the result of a ruptured bicep tendon.
The club's GM told SION reporters, "We were all stunned by the news. Injuries are a part of the game, but you never get used to this kind of devastating news."
His record this year is 8-11 in 23 starts and García has a 4.23 ERA. |

Jean-Marie Thomas of the Hawaii Typhoon had a fantastic week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Eastern League.
For the week Thomas batted .500 (11-22) with 1 home run and 10 RBIs.
So far this season Thomas is batting .287 with 4 home runs.
