| Breaking News | | Friday, July 5th, 2013: Martínez Sensational, 5-5 Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Fire Ballpark when Juan Martínez of Memphis scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Yellow Springs Nine.
He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Fire get by the Nine 9-8.
In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the right fielder of the Fire exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens...good things happen...like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."
J. Martínez doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Martínez is hitting .278 this season with 4 home runs, 35 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 73 hits in 263 at-bats. | | Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013: Raiders Gonzáles Blanks Fire It was a dazzling performance by Jesús Gonzáles of the Shanghai Raiders. He shut out the Memphis Fire 3-0 on a brilliant 2-hitter, ringing up 8 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks.
In 16 starts this year Gonzáles has crafted a 7-7 record and a 3.57 ERA. | | Wednesday, May 1st, 2013: Borges Twirls Fire to Shutout Victory José Borges was dynamite today and just blew Kalookan away in the 1-0 victory. The Memphis Fire starter had everything working as he hurled a 5-hit shutout over the Milkfish, recording 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"He was pure nasty out there today. I don't think any team in the would've had a chance against what he was bringing," said the Kalookan skipper during his postgame press conference.
