| Breaking News | | Friday, July 18th, 2014: Jensen Belts Bunch of Base Hits What a day for Ted Jensen of the Nashville Sounds! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Claxton pitching apart at Sounds Ballpark and sparked the Sounds to a 10-3 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Jensen told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
T. Jensen hit a solo-shot off J. Daniels in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off B. Akers in the 8th.
Presently Jensen is batting .276 with 29 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 13 runs and scored 12 times. | | Thursday, June 12th, 2014: Nashville's Vázquez Shuts Out Monks The Nashville Sounds got a great effort from Ángel Vázquez as the 19-year-old hurler tossed a complete-game 7-0 shutout over the Zhengzhou Monks. He struck out 4 while allowing 3 hits and walking 2.
| | Wednesday, May 28th, 2014: 15 Ks for MacSpaden, Beats Limerick 10-2 Tadhg MacSpaden of the Nashville Sounds was something to behold at Sounds Ballpark. He was on fire and fanned 15 Leprechauns en route to a 10-2 victory. MacSpaden shackled Limerick on 4 hits and gave up 1 walk in an outstanding performance.
"That's as good as I've ever seen him throw," his manager said. "I've never seen so many bad swings in my life. These guys didn't have a chance."
MacSpaden had very little to say to after the game. "We won and that's the bottom line. The Sounds don't play for stats -- we play for wins. And we love to beat Limerick."
The Limerick manager wasn't too happy with the game. "He may have gotten some help from the umpire. But he pitched a very good game. You have to tip your cap to him."
In 2014, MacSpaden has a 5-4 mark in 9 starts with a 2.28 ERA. He has given up 45 hits in 71 innings, struck out 82 and issued 22 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .179 batting average against him. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Gabe Myers | torn tricep muscle | 4 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 74-56, .569 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 9.0 GB | | Record at home | 39-26, .600 PCT | | Record on the road | 35-30, .538 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-3, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 21-13, .618 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 20-14, .588 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 54-42, .563 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 9-1, .900 PCT | | Record in April | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record in May | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in June | 15-11, .577 PCT | | Record in July | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in August | 12-7, .632 PCT |
