| Breaking News |  | Friday, August 15th, 2014: Román Blisters Cape Town 6 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Hartford's Orlando Román had a very special day against the Rebels when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 6 hits in 6 at-bats -- and led the Hartford Whalers to a 18-3 win at Aristocrats Ballpark.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Román said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
O. Román singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off J. Costa in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off E. Álvarez in the 8th.
So far in 2014 Román is hitting .291 with 11 home runs, 56 RBIs and 74 runs scored. He has 144 hits and played in 120 games. |  | Saturday, August 9th, 2014: Season Over for Devenpeck in Cape Town The season is finished for Nick Devenpeck of the Cape Town Rebels. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Rebels first baseman suffered a ruptured disc while making a defensive play in a recent game against the Burlington Railroaders. Team doctors said it would take at least 8 months to heal.
So far this season Devenpeck has hit .254 with 20 home runs, 86 RBIs and and scored 62 times. |  | Tuesday, July 1st, 2014: Rebels Navarro Tames Chihuahua Cape Town was pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard today as José Navarro blanked Chihuahua 13-0. He stopped them on 5 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts.
His skipper said, "Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite. He was on top of his game in this one."
