| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, July 24th, 2013: Bell Hurls Rome to Shutout Victory
In an outstanding mound performance, Cory Bell of the Rome Gladiators scuttled the Burlington Railroaders 7-0 on a 5-hit shutout, ringing up 7 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.
"He's got great stuff and good movement," the Burlington manager said after the game.
"He threw a lot of breaking balls. He made adjustments. We just couldn't figure him out today."
Checking out his stats for the season, Bell has notched 5 wins and 9 losses in 19 starts, 3.48 ERA and struck out 103 batters in 137 innings.

Limerick's Jesús Velazco breezed through the Gladiators lineup today, collecting a 2-hit shutout and a 11-0 victory along the way. Velazco fanned 5 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Velazco confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
This year Velazco has worked 136 innings with 87 strikeouts en route to a 6-7 record and 3.57 ERA.

Nashville pitcher Don Bell gave the Rome Gladiators fits today as he blanked them 3-0 on 3 hits. He registered 6 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout.
His manager said, "When he's locating his pitches, he becomes unpredictable. He had Rome guessing the entire game."
This year Bell has a 6-2 record with a 3.69 ERA in 14 starts.
