Limerick's Curro Ortega breezed through the Admirals lineup today, collecting a 6-hit shutout and a 6-0 victory along the way. Ortega fanned 1 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Ortega confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
This year in 28 starts, Ortega has recorded 8 wins and absorbed 14 losses. He has pitched 184.1 innings, allowed 215 hits, struck out 87 and has a 4.49 ERA.

 | Saturday, August 16th, 2014: Morín Holds Admirals Scoreless
Fernando Morín of the San Diego Anchormen was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Melbourne Admirals with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 5-0 shutout.
In the postgame comments, the Melbourne skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The San Diego hurler had 6 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.
Morín told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
This year Morín has compiled a 12-11 record with a 2.72 ERA in 27 starts.

 | Tuesday, July 15th, 2014: Melbourne's LeJeune Shuts out Racers
Melvin LeJeune of the Melbourne Admirals was one tough customer on the hill today. He blanked the Indianapolis Racers 3-0 on 5 hits, registering 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"When he's on, he's tough to hit," said the Indianapolis manager after the game. "He's just a bulldog out there."
This year LeJeune has a 6-5 mark in 17 starts with a 3.81 ERA. He has given up 116 hits in 115.2 innings, struck out 42 and issued 22 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .258 batting average against him.
