| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 2nd, 2014: Cameron's 20-Game Hitting Streak Ends The Zhengzhou Monks lost to the Samoan Navigators 4-1 today at Monks Ballpark, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Boyd Cameron's 20-game hitting streak.
"We felt if we could slow down Cameron, we would win the game," the Navigators manager explained after the game. "They really seemed to feed off of his streak, so we really wanted to make sure they had nothing to feed off of."
Thus far this season Cameron is hitting .346 with 10 home runs, 49 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 101 hits in 292 at-bats and has played in 87 games. | | Friday, August 1st, 2014: Hit Parade: Ortíz Pops 5 Hits It was high-5 day at Monks Ballpark, at least for Francisco Ortíz of the Zhengzhou Monks. He got a lot of high-5's from his teammates for his outstanding hitting against the Chihuahua Dorados. Ortíz smashed 5 hits in 7 at-bats on his record-setting day, leading his club to a 5-4 win.
His manager said, "Francisco was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him."
In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN beat writers, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine."

The Zhengzhou second baseman sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Chihuahua pitching for 5 hits in 9 at-bats in the game.
He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
