| Breaking News | | Monday, July 1st, 2013: Hot Hitter! Lugo Blisters West Freehold! If the West Freehold Schooners know how best to pitch the Pacolet left fielder Raúl Lugo they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Lugo showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Schooners pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Prancing Pansies to a 13-5 triumph at Prancing Pansies Ballpark.
He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The West Freehold skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
R. Lugo doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, flied out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off G. Msca in the 8th.
Thus far this year Lugo has hit .259 with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs. | | Friday, June 14th, 2013: Domingues Slaps 6 Hits It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Martin Domingues. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Domingues went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off West Freehold pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Pearls Ballpark, he had a career 6-7 day and something he will long remember. And the Quezon City Pearls had a 8-3 victory over the Schooners.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
M. Domingues singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, flied out in the 11th, singled in the 13th and hit a two-run home run off S. González in the 15th.
This year Domingues has hit at a .314 clip with 23 RBIs, 3 home runs and 27 runs scored. | | Tuesday, June 11th, 2013: Romano Fires Shutout in Crawdads Win "He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said the West Freehold manager after watching Gustavo Romano of the New Orleans Crawdads humiliate his club 1-0 in a fine 6-hit shutout.
"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Romano said after he befuddled the Schooners. "I was making good pitches the entire game."
He whiffed 2 and walked 0 in the complete game effort.
Up to now Romano has compiled an ERA of 1.48 with a 2-1 mark over 2 starts. He has 13 strikeouts in 24.1 innings and has held opponents to a .211 batting average. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Norberto Rivera | herniated disc (back) | 7 weeks | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 58-63, .479 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 5.0 GB | | Record at home | 30-29, .508 PCT | | Record on the road | 28-34, .452 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-6, .538 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-20, .487 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 21-21, .500 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 37-42, .468 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 18-10, .643 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 8-18, .308 PCT | | Record in July | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in August | 5-5, .500 PCT |
