Jack Fulton got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 30. He collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His Quezon City Pearls were defeated 7-5 at Pearls Ballpark by the Port-au-Prince Liberators.
During the recent streak, the 22-year-old first baseman has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, Fulton preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today."
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." J. Fulton singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 9th.
This year Fulton has hit at a .368 clip with 176 hits, 5 home runs, 70 RBIs and 65 runs scored. | | Sunday, August 17th, 2014: Rúbio Pitches Shutout In an almost effortless performance, António Rúbio of the Pearls shot down the Swing 4-0 on a 3-hit shutout.
