| Breaking News | | Friday, June 28th, 2013: Román Tags Prancing Pansies 5 Hits "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Jorge Román after his 5-hit performance against the Prancing Pansies. "No offense meant to Pacolet, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Ballpark of Hattiesburg!"
The Hattiesburg second baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 14-10 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Jorge worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Román said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
J. Román singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
In 2013 Román is batting .248 with 75 hits, 5 home runs, 33 RBIs, 29 walks, .318 OBP and has scored 45 runs. He has played in 76 games. | | Monday, June 10th, 2013: Abeele 5-6 for Crawdads All game long New Orleans's Menno Abeele was rattling the walls at Crawdads Ballpark and banging out base hits against the Hattiesburg Eagles.
