Spitfires right fielder Jorge Sánchez reached a career milestone yesterday, blasting home run number 300.
He took the achievement in stride. "It's always good to get another home run and even better to get another win," Sánchez told reporters in the postgame interview.
He went 2-4 during the London 10-3 triumph over the Paris Guillotines and scored 2 runs with 2 runs batted in.
In his 1714-game career Sánchez has tagged 1819 hits with 416 doubles, 39 triples and 300 home runs. His lifetime batting average is .281 with 1054 RBIs and 1014 runs scored. |
 | Friday, April 13th, 2018: Manila's Ware Shuts out Spitfires
Robbie Ware was in command in his outing against the London Spitfires. He hurled the Manila Volcanoes to a 8-0 shutout victory, yielded 5 hits and chalked up 11 strikeouts and no walks.
"A complete-game shutout. That's fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."

Eduardo Martínez of the London Spitfires gave the Guillotines a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete-game shutout. He blanked them 7-0 on 4 hits with a total of 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.
The London manager said, "Martínez was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
