Thursday, August 1st, 2013: Coates Garners FIBB #1 Pitcher Award
In July, Albert Coates tore through the Federation of International Baseball like a veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 23-years-old.

The young Santo Domingo starter notched a 5-0 mark and an ERA of 1.31 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 41.1 innings he collected 34 strikeouts while keeping the opposition to a .196 average.

In 22 starts this year Coates has recorded a 14-5 record and a 3.57 ERA.
Friday, July 26th, 2013: Ed Jamieson Wallops 3 Homers for Tortugas
Today was a special one for Ed Jamieson of the Santo Domingo Tortugas as he slammed three home runs in the 10-1 win over the Sao Paulo Surf.

"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game...I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."

The Santo Domingo center fielder had quite a game at Tortugas Ballpark as he collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5 and scored 3 runs.

E. Jamieson hit a solo-shot off F. Erikov in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off F. Erikov in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off M. Arsenault in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th.

For the season, Jamieson is hitting at a .259 clip with 18 home runs, 52 RBIs and has scored 55 runs. He has 98 hits, 23 walks and a .313 on-base percentage.
Sunday, July 21st, 2013: Baltimore Monarchs to Santo Domingo for Bowen
A trade between the Baltimore Monarchs and the Santo Domingo Tortugas was made official this morning. The Baltimore Monarchs have sent $1 in cash to the Santo Domingo Tortugas in exchange for 32-year old third baseman Chris Bowen and $1 in cash.

Bowen is hitting .251 so far this season with 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 48 hits including 6 home runs, 7 walks and .304 OBP.
