It was a fantastic week for Havana first baseman Rubén Lara and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the Federation of International Baseball Player of the Week Award.
Last week Lara hammered the ball at a torrid .467 pace, going 14-30 with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
In 146 games this season Lara is batting .274 with 157 hits and 26 home runs. He has scored 70 runs and driven in 79.

 | Tuesday, September 11th, 2012: Havana's MacCabe Out 2 Weeks
Watching Bastyão MacCabe getting helped off the field today at Perfectos Ballpark, fans of the Havana Perfectos feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the starting pitcher will miss 2 weeks with a tender elbow. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. MacCabe suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Ninjas.
So far this season MacCabe has a 8-7 record with a 3.96 ERA.

 | Saturday, September 8th, 2012: Jorge Reyes Will Miss 2 Weeks
Medical officials from the Havana Perfectos reported that the club's 24-year-old third baseman, Jorge Reyes, suffered a sore knee in yesterday's matchup against the Bogota Toros while running the bases. Reyes is expected to miss 2 weeks of action.
Reyes is batting .308 with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs this season.
