Swats 5 Hits! 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Sluggers 13-3 win over Greenville, Shi-fa Wu was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Sluggers Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Wu delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
S. Wu doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
So far in 2013, Wu is batting .260 with 5 home runs and 30 RBIs. | | Friday, August 2nd, 2013: Martínez Hurls Sluggers to Shutout Victory Emílio Martínez of the Louisville Sluggers whitewashed the Greenville Moonshiners 4-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 3 hits while chalking up 2 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.

This season Martínez has 7 wins and 11 losses and a 4.66 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 53-64, .453 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 23.0 GB | | Record at home | 22-37, .373 PCT | | Record on the road | 31-27, .534 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-8, .385 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 14-23, .378 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 39-41, .487 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record in May | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in June | 9-19, .321 PCT | | Record in July | 13-11, .542 PCT | | Record in August | 5-5, .500 PCT |
