| Breaking News | | Thursday, September 27th, 2012: Medina Bashes 5 Base Hits It was a hits blitz for Carlos Medina at Des Moines Grounds. The Des Moines Kernels second baseman tore into Jackson for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace Kernels to a 12-3 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Gators bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Medina, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
C. Medina doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
| | Wednesday, August 15th, 2012: Rodríguez Bewilders Gators in Shutout Sometimes even Alfonso Rodríguez of Los Angeles isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.
"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said.
This time he made the Jackson Gators look bad 3-0.
Rodríguez tossed a 2-hit shutout against them, totaling 6 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.
This season Rodríguez has compiled a 9-7 record with a 3.46 ERA. | | Tuesday, July 31st, 2012: Jackson's Torres Injured Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now Fernando Torres of the Gators knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Las Vegas Hustlers while throwing a pitch. Diagnosed as a tender elbow, the Jackson starting pitcher is expected to miss 1-2 weeks. Torres was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "There is nothing I can do now. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This year Torres has gone 5-4 with an ERA of 2.87 and has 71 strikeouts in 81.2 innings. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 81-81, .500 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 18.0 GB | | Record at home | 41-40, .506 PCT | | Record on the road | 40-41, .494 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-11, .476 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 34-22, .607 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 15-30, .333 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 66-51, .564 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in May | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in June | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 17-7, .708 PCT | | Record in August | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in September | 15-13, .536 PCT |
