Kernels fans were divided today as Des Moines confirmed that the front office has signed Jeremy Das to a 1-year extension at a rate of $5,960,000 per year.
While many were enthusiastically behind the signing, others worried about Das's age.
Checking out his stats for the year, Das has racked up 1 win and 2 losses in 6 starts, 5.40 ERA and struck out 32 batters in 30 innings. |
 | Tuesday, May 1st, 2018: Zane Slams 5 Hits for Des Moines
The Des Moines Kernels upended the Birmingham Bandits at Des Moines Grounds today in large part to left fielder Finley Zane, who had a smashing day with the bat -- he racked up 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and help propel the Kernels to a 5-4 victory.
F. Zane singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and singled in the 12th.
This year Zane is batting .312 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. In 27 games he has scored 14 times. |
 | Tuesday, March 20th, 2018: Season Ends for Mike Boyd of Des Moines
The season is finished for Mike Boyd of the Des Moines Kernels. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Kernels reliever suffered a torn tricep muscle while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Las Vegas Hustlers. Team doctors said it would take at least 11 months to heal.
