Saturday, November 24th, 2012: Baltimore and Des Moines Agree to Swap
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Baltimore Monarchs sent 22-year old minor league left fielder Albert Cruz and 21-year old minor league starting pitcher Dylan Blanc to the Des Moines Kernels for 30-year old third baseman Miguel Quintero and 21-year old starting pitcher Tolek Kapzynski.

Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.

During his career Quintero has chalked up 949 hits and a .277 average with 115 home runs and 501 RBIs.
Sunday, November 11th, 2012: Enforcers Swap James to Kernels for Núñez
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Moscow Enforcers sent 18-year old minor league center fielder Roger James to the Des Moines Kernels for 23-year old catcher Rafael Núñez.

Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.

Thursday, September 27th, 2012: Medina Bashes 5 Base Hits
It was a hits blitz for Carlos Medina at Des Moines Grounds. The Des Moines Kernels second baseman tore into Jackson for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace Kernels to a 12-3 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.

The manager for the Gators bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Medina, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."

C. Medina doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
