| Breaking News | | Tuesday, July 30th, 2013: Ordóńez at His Best, Whips Kernels "José Ordóńez is really a good pitcher when he throws strikes early in the count," said his manager after the Washington hurler tossed a complete game 3-hit shutout against the Des Moines Kernels.
"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Ordóńez. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."
Ordóńez walked 1 and struck out 5 in the 5-0 victory.
This year Ordóńez has compiled a 12-6 record with a 3.25 ERA in 22 starts. | | Saturday, July 20th, 2013: Greenville Wins, Blanks Washington In an impressive outing, Sang-hyuk Yu whitewashed the Washington Bobwhites 7-0.
"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Yu, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.
"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."
The Greenville hurler held Washington scoreless, allowed 2 hits, chalked up 5 strikeouts and yielded 1 walk.
This year Yu has worked 94.2 innings with 66 strikeouts en route to a 6-6 record and a 5.61 ERA. | | Thursday, July 4th, 2013: Cote Touches All Bases, Hit Cycle What do you get when you take a good eye, some bat control, speed and power?

He put together quite a performance at the plate and came away with the cycle, helping his team clip Valencia 9-1 and give the fans a memory they will never forget.
"This is the most amazing feat I've ever witnessed at a ballgame!" exclaimed a longtime Washington fan. "I have probably been to several hundred games in my life and I've never seen anything like it."
For the day the Bobwhites second baseman had 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 4 runs batted in and 1 run scored.
Cote etched his name into the record books by hitting a single, a double, a triple and a homerun, all in the same game. When asked after the game how it felt to join such an exclusive group, Cote replied, "It just feels great to help the team get the W."
H. Cote singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off M. Jones in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
In 2013 Cote has hit at a .261 clip with 73 hits, 6 home runs, 41 RBIs and has scored 27 times. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 60-57, .513 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 19.0 GB | | Record at home | 31-25, .554 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-32, .475 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 9-8, .529 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-13, .594 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-15, .423 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 49-42, .538 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 10-17, .370 PCT | | Record in May | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in June | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in July | 16-9, .640 PCT | | Record in August | 6-3, .667 PCT |
