GUBA Rookie League News Article | | | Monday, September 3rd, 2012: Red-Hot Stewart Scorches Sluggers Bridgeport first baseman Burton Stewart could do no wrong in today's 12-6 win over the Sluggers as he collected 5 hits.
"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor...he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Sluggers said to the press corps after the game.
Stewart agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
B. Stewart singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off G. Miranda in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
This year Stewart has collected a .393 batting average to date with 81 hits in 206 at-bats, 47 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 32 times. He has played in 53 games. | |
