 | Wednesday, August 7th, 2013: Hot Bat of Rúbio Burns Friars What a day for Luis Rúbio of the Sparks Flyers! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday! He ripped Fremont pitching apart at Ballpark of Sparks and sparked the Flyers to a 9-4 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 5-6. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Rúbio told SION reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." L. Rúbio singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. In 2013 Rúbio is currently batting .410 with no home runs and 11 RBIs. In 26 games he has reached base at a .429 rate and scored 21 runs to date. |
