 | Friday, July 20th, 2012: Fire Hurler Ramos Tames Cork Juan Ramos was downright nasty in pitching a 5-0 shutout against Cork. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Saints were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Fire hurler chalked up 2 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing. "As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes." |
