 | Wednesday, July 18th, 2012: García Torches Leones for 5 Hits It was a sensational day at the plate for Juan García as he led the charge to a 4-2 win over the Leones. The Omaha right fielder was pure misery for the Ponce pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. The manager for the Leones told SION reporters after the game, "García put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." J. García singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off S. Ichikawa in the 9th. In 92 games this year García has posted a .279 average and put up these numbers: 1 home run, 30 RBIs and 43 runs scored. |
