GUBA Single A News Article | | | Thursday, June 21st, 2012: San Jose Blanks Holbrook Behind Cuarenta Arturo Cuarenta was downright nasty in pitching a 6-0 shutout against Holbrook. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Sailors were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 4-hit shutout the Macaws hurler chalked up 4 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
This season Cuarenta has worked 28 innings with 9 strikeouts en route to a 1-2 record and a 2.89 ERA. | |
