GUBA Single A News Article | | | Monday, May 26th, 2014: Torres Clips Piratas for Cycle Alaska's José Torres accomplished what few others have been able to do -- he hit for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a "natural cycle."
For the day he finished 4-5 with 5 RBI and 3 runs scored and helped his Sled Dogs knock off the Campeche Piratas 18-2 at Sled Dogs Ballpark. In the postgame press conference he said, "I didn't even know I had hit for the cycle until after the game."
J. Torres grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off A. Medrano in the 6th.
In 2014 Torres is hitting .357, batted in 14 runs with 2 home runs and 13 runs scored. | |
