 | Monday, June 17th, 2013: Evans Slams 5 Hits for Boston Bernie Evans told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard." Well, that's just what Evans of the Boston Slammers did against the West Ohahu Cane Fires. He went to the plate 6 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Cane Fires, who suffered a 15-4 defeat. "Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us." B. Evans singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 7th. In 70 games this year Evans has posted a .293 average and put up these numbers: 1 home run, 32 RBIs and 45 runs scored. |
