 | Sunday, August 5th, 2012: Big Day for Corona! Swats 5 Hits! It was a sensational day at the plate for Juan Corona as he led the charge to a 13-5 win over the Sharks. The Leningrad third baseman was pure misery for the Honolulu pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 7 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. The manager for the Sharks told SION reporters after the game, "Corona put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." J. Corona doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off R. Moore in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. This season Corona is swinging the bat at a .294 rate with 132 hits in 449 at-bats. To date he has hit 2 home runs, scored 58 runs and driven in 39. |
